How to Choose the Right Swing Handle Lock for Large Format Enclosures

1. Start With Door Size and Weight
< 400 mm / < 10 kg → a compact single-point swing handle is usually sufficient
400–800 mm / 10–20 kg → a medium-duty swing handle; consider two-point latching if the door is thin or flexible
> 800 mm / > 20 kg → a heavy-duty handle with multi-point rod control
If the door gap varies by more than 3 mm across the closing edge, use multi-point locking.
2. Single-Point vs Multi-Point
Single-point is fine when the door is flat, warpage is minimal and sealing is not critical. Multi-point is required for wide doors, outdoor/dusty environments, wind load or vibration.
3. Key Lock Options
Keyed cylinder: keyed-alike or keyed-different, with replaceable cylinders for easy re-keying across a cabinet fleet
Padlock hasp: extra security for outdoor sites
Non-locking T-handle: clean rooms and food processing
4. Material and Surface Treatment
Indoor control panel → zinc alloy, zinc plated
Outdoor telecom cabinet → zinc alloy, UV-stable powder coat
Marine / coastal → SS304 brushed / passivated
High-corrosion chemical → SS316 electropolished
Food processing → SS304 mirror polish / hygienic
5. Panel Thickness
Standard swing handles fit 1.5–3.0 mm panels. Thicker panels up to 6 mm need extended-shaft variants or custom bushes.
